Pinetop Perkins is a blues immortal best known for backing Muddy Waters. Pinetop is widely regarded as one of the best blues pianists, with “a left hand as deep and dark as the Mississippi River’s bottom, a right hand like a roadhouse-rattling horn section,” praised Downbeat magazine. It’s with much pleasure that we welcome this legendary musician to the festival.
Shannon Curfman
Hometown girl Shannon Curfman decided to start a band while jamming with Jeff Healey on his bus at the First Annual Fargo Blues Fest. Two years later, at 13, Shannon and her band stormed the Fargo Blues Fest stage and unleashed a frenzy of explosive guitar chords, impassioned vocals and searing lyrics. Since then Shannon’s moved to Minneapolis and shared the stage with such legends as B.B. King and Santana. Her new release, "Take It Like A Man," reveals a young woman coming into her own, still light years ahead of her peers.
Duwayne Burnside & the Mississippi Mafia
Duwayne Burnside is the son of R.L. Burnside, the god of North Mississippi hill country blues who graced the Fargo Blues Fest stage in 1997, 1998 and 1999. Growing up, Duwayne played in his father’s family band the Sound Machine Groove. More recently he toured and recorded with the North Mississippi Allstars. An exceptional rhythm player adept at several musical styles, his personal style is a mix of North Mississippi blues and rock. In 2005 he released Under Pressure, which was nominated for a Blues Music Award.

Tommy Swearingen on drums, Carl Brusky on bass, and Doug Kroening and Lee Geiger on guitars round out the reunion. The energy and collective sould of this band make them a freight train of Chicago style blues.
